The holiday season is fast approaching, and you probably have a lot to do. You need to think about buying presents, preparing delicious holiday meals, and so much more. But you also want to make sure you have some time to enjoy the holiday season. There will be a lot going on in the Springfield area, but one attraction you definitely have to go to is the Winter Walk of Lights at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. Here is what you can expect when you go.
What Is It?
The Winter Walk of Lights opens in mid-November, and you can catch it until just after New Year’s Day. That gives you more than enough opportunities to get out and see the half-mile walk of lights. The garden will be absolutely transformed into a winter wonderland with lights covering trees, bushes, and everything in between. These aren’t your typical holiday lights. The people who design the Winter Walk of Lights really go all out, so it’s certainly a sight to behold.
The Walk of Lights will run from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. every night. It’s open so late because it needs to be dark for you to appreciate how beautiful the lights are. It’s just not the same when you go during the day. Keep in mind that the last tickets will be sold at 9:30 p.m., so make sure you get there before that if you want to have enough time to walk around and check everything out.

What to Do?
Before you go to the Winter Walk of Lights, you will want to make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes. That’s because there’s a good chance that you will be doing a lot of walking and standing. Don’t worry – it’s not like you are going to be hiking through the gardens. But at the same time, you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible. That gives you the chance to see all the wonderful light attractions in the garden.
But what about if you get hungry? That’s not a problem. You can sit down and roast some marshmallows by the fire. That will bring this holiday tradition to the next level. There will also be warm beverages for sale at the light concessions stand.
The holiday lights at the Winter Walk of Lights will really get you into the holiday spirit. You know what else will get you into the holiday spirit?
