What to Expect
When you arrive for the tour, you will first go to the Ford Orientation Center. While you’re there, you will see some beautiful Christmas trees and listen to holiday music. If you’re feeling hungry or thirsty, you can take advantage of the light concessions that will be available there.
Then, your lantern-lit tour will begin. You will start on the grounds, where you’ll see the Slave Quarters and the Blacksmith Shop. Finally, you’ll get to go into the mansion. Actors representing various members of the Washington family will tell you all about what holidays were like at the estate so many years ago.
After that, you’ll go to the Greenhouse. While you are there, you can dance, eat some cookies and cider, and enjoy a Christmas celebration that the Washingtons would have been proud of. You’ll end your tour at the Education Center lobby, where you can view some exhibits or pick something up at The Shops.
